"Stock the Larder" Shopping List for Seasonal Cooking

Here is a handy “essentials” shopping list to set up you for fall & winter cooking and baking! Use it as a guideline and create your own, based on your diet and delights! It will save you time, energy, and money every week! Make copies and put one on your frig so you can check things off and build your grocery list through the week. A little preparation and planning go a long way, and make it more likely that you will cook! Have fun with this & Happy Cooking!! - Elisa


PRODUCE: Onions/shallots Garlic Celery Carrots Parsley and/or cilantro Winter squash Sweet potatoes Potatoes


PANTRY: Organic chicken, beef, & vegetable broths and stocks Canned tomatoes: crushed, petite diced, and sauce Canned beans (pinto, black, cannellini, kidney) Rice (brown, basmati/jasmine) Pasta (a variety)


The SPICE cabinet is another thing altogether. Check to be sure you have dried herbs, bay leaf, seasonings, garlic salt, and sea salts as well as cooking wines and vinegars. * Hooray for you if you have fresh herbs growing inside or out!! Those are the BEST!! I like to grow basil, thyme, sage, rosemary, & mint. I keep them alive as long as I can into the Fall & Winter!


BAKING: Whole grain flours, including gluten-free flour (oat, brown rice) Unbleached, all-purpose flour (I prefer organic) Sugars (organic cane sugar, brown sugar, confectioners sugar, etc.) Spices: cinnamon, ginger, allspice, cloves, pumpkin pie spice Vanilla Almond extract Semi-sweet or dark chocolate baking chips White chocolate baking chips Dried cranberries and/or raisins Walnuts/pecans
