Elisa's Tortilla Soup

1 lb. ground turkey or cooked, shredded chicken 1 medium onion, chopped 1 clove garlic, minced 1 cup salsa or Rotel (diced tomatoes & green chiles) 1/2 cup finely crushed tortilla chips 2 cans or 1 carton (32 oz.) chicken broth 4 cups water 2 cups frozen corn 1 large can black beans 1/2 cup uncooked rice 1/2 tsp. ground cumin 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
Saute ground turkey or chicken with onions and garlic in large pot. Add all other ingredients, stir, and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
Top with tortilla strips and fresh cilantro, and sliced avocado if available.
